Clare, a DTC paint company, was founded by an expert interior designer looking to demystify the process of shopping for paint. Through the introduction of curated collections, an easy-to-use paint sampling system, and a superior quality product, Clare is a new authority on simplifying paint shopping and removing pain points in an established industry.

With an existing headless ecommerce site, Hidden Gears evolved the design system further towards new UX and conversion focused features. Projects including redesigning the homepage and creating new menus, collection pages, cart, checkout, and augmenting the Clare Color Genius Quiz™ designed to provide a thoughtful end-to-end buying experience.

A headless e-commerce site built on Contentful, React, and Shopify, had an advanced infrastructure already in place. Beginning with a technical discovery and site audit, our analysis shaped the UX design and solutions strategy, integrating React and Shopify Plus scripting and programming.

After 11 months of close collaboration, site traffic increased by 57%, with time spent on site improving by 29%, suggesting a strong correlation with improved navigation and customer engagement. Within e-commerce, conversion rates increased by 103% and revenue from onsite purchases increased by 4.5X, indicating the implementation of features designed to ease purchasing decisions and increase customer retention rates was a successful one.
